Jim was a cook and baker in the army during World War I. After the war, he ran a two-lane bowling alley in Guerneville, California. Was married for a short time, but had no children. At the time of the 1930 census, he was living in Modesto, California, where his nephew, Ed Moretti, had a bar. He spent his final years in Calistoga with his uncles, Ed Vanoni & Emilio Vanoni.
