John played football at Vallejo High School in 1937 & 1938, and his first wife-to-be was a cheerleader. He enlisted as a private in the Marine Core in 1943.
After World War II, John moved to Modesto where he worked for the Franzia Wine Company. John’s cousin, Edward Moretti, was already located in Modesto, and may have influenced John’s decision to leave Vallejo.
