Gus was the first child of Mario and Asunta Orsolino. He was born across the road from the Piner High School on Fulton Road, and was delivered by a neighbor, Celestina Pozzi Moretti who was then living near the site of the Piner High School. Later, the Moretti family and the Orsolini family lived on 10-acre farms located on Guerneville road, about 0.3 miles west of Fulton Road. The Orsolini family was on the north side of Guerneville Road, and the Moretti family was on the south side of the road.

In about 1972, Gus and his wife purchased about 3 acres of land about 0.2 miles east of the intersection of Fulton Road and Peterson Lane. They built several houses on the property that is now accessed by a street called Orsolini Place.
