She must have had quite a strong personality to resist to social pressure in Aurigeno - and Ticino - and to prejudice against unmarried mothers since she had 5 children out of wedlock from 5 different fathers. One of them - so rumors say - was her own uncle (gossips?).
Serafina’s house in Aurigeno was bought in the seventies by Patricia Highsmith, the American writer, who lived there for a few years before constructing a modern house in Verscio.
